Carbonser, S.A. de C.V. is a consortium that was established in 1999 jointly owned by GMD and Grupo Techint, each holding an equal stake. The terminal serves as a coal supplier to the Plutarco Elias Calles thermoelectric plant located in Petacalco, Guerrero.
Under the service agreement signed with the Federal Electricity Commission, we committed to financing, constructing, and operating the terminal for a period of 30 years (total investment of over 340 million USD).
With an installed capacity to handle up to six million tons per year, the terminal receives capesize bulk carriers, the largest in their class worldwide at close to 1,000 feet of overall length. Eventhough they carry more than 140,000 metric tons of coal, they are unloaded in less than 80 hours, at an average rate of 0.5 tons per second. |
