This water purification plant spans over an area of 129,000 square feet and is supplied by the El Carrizo dam. With a capacity to purify 119,000 gallons of water per hour or 33 gallons per second, it reliably provides water supply to meet the demands of the western region of Tijuana, Baja California.
El Carrizo employs conventional surface water treatment processes and operates in two modes: direct filtration, involving coagulation and filtration, or a full conventional process, which includes coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration. Water is disinfected by means of chlorine gas applications.
