From April 2011 to December 2013, GMD Ingenieria y Construccion developed Phase I of this new airport commissioned by the Chiapas State Government.
The company undertook several construction projects, including the construction of the control tower, commercial and general platforms, and a drainage system for the runway. The project also involved the construction of a security strip and security zone, as well as the Runway End Safety Area (RESA).
Additionally, the company constructed taxiway Charlie, a road leading to the Rescue and Firefighting Center (CREI), and various other related infrastructure.
