As one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the 1990’s, GMD was entrusted with the construction of an 50 mile stretch comprising four sections: Acapulco-Tierra Colorada, Tierra Colorada-Chilpancingo, Chilpancingo-Río Mezcala and Río Mezcala-Puente de Ixtla. It included 14 traditional bridges, five special bridges, toll plazas, livestock overpasses, junctions and other related infrastructure.

After completion, GMD operated the full 163 miles between Cuernavaca and Acapulco.
