Construction was completed between 1992 and 1994, and GMD operated it until 1998.
It covers 71 miles in the Zapotlanejo-Ecuandureo section, 121 miles on the Ecuandureo-Maravatío highway, and 19 miles of the Toluca bypass. Its route required the construction of eight junctions, including Zinapecuaro, Morelia, Churintzio, Ecuandureo, La Barca, Ocotlan, and Fernando Espinoza, in addition to 44 bridges, including those located on the Lerma and La Cañada Rivers.
It required 813,237,334 cubic feet of excavation and 139,755,450 cubic feet for the embankment. The project generated 7,500 direct jobs and 2,720 indirect jobs. |
